Sophocles' Portraits

History contains information about the existence of two portraits of Sophocles, in ancient times.
The first one is a painting, in which he was represented as playing the harp. This one probably dates from the fifth century.
The second one is a bronze statue. Several other busts have been discovered, and also a marble statue. This last one is considered to be a work from the age of Alexander the Great.
